Regular City Council Meeting Minutes 

City of Porter 

November 12, 2025 6:30 p.m. 

 

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Donald Verschelde 

 

Council members present were Kim Jelen, Donald Verschelde, Josh Sumption, Pat Vlaminck, Craig Peterson and Judy Verschelde.   

 

Mayor Donald Verschelde called for the reading of the minutes of the October 6, 2025, Regular City Council meeting.  Minutes were approved as read in a motion by Craig Peterson, seconded by Pat Vlaminck.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried. 

 

Also present was Ken Hennen. 

 

The dump grounds will be burned.  No parking signs have been placed on all the doors at the fire hall. 

 

RESOLUTION 11.12.2025 

BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Porter, in the County of Yellow Medicine and the state of Minnesota that the city gives their approval for an offsite Bingo gambling permit on January 2, 2026 at 6:30 pm for the Porter Fire Relief Department Association located within the city limits at the Porter Community Hall for rent of $0.00. 

A motion was made by Josh Sumption, seconded by Pat Vlaminck, to approve Resolution 11.12.2025.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the resolution was passed. 

 

The city has 8 water meters that are not reading.  City reviewed various reports that can be ran if requested to help residents understand their water usage. 

 

Residents can now set up an account to pay their City bill online.  Information will be sent out with the water billing.  

 

473,000 gallons of water used.  

 

A motion was made by Josh Sumption, seconded by Craig Peterson to pay the bills as read.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.  

 

A motion was made by Craig Peterson, seconded by Pat Vlaminck to adjourn the meeting.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
