Regular City Council Meeting Minutes 

City of Porter 

August 4, 2025 6:30 p.m. 

 

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Donald Verschelde 

 

Council members present were Donald Verschelde, Josh Sumption, Pat Vlaminck, Craig Petersen and Judy Verschelde.   

 

C & L Seal Coating will send a quote for the city to review.  Jason is working on weed control at the sewer pond.  The hole in the sidewalk has been cemented at Lone Tree & Brook Ave.  The Dump was pushed up and burned and may need to be bulldozed. 

 

The city will continue to spray 2x per week and will continue to monitor as summer progresses. 

 

A motion was made by Josh Sumption, seconded by Pat Vlaminck to approve the issuance of a non-intoxicating liquor license to the Cut Loose Tavern for Porter Harvest Festival on August 15th through August 17, 2025.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried. 

 

Pat will be installing a pole with lights at the end of the fence behind 1st base.  Craig shared that concrete was installed around the picnic shelter and concession stand as well as between the parking lot and recycling bins. 

 

Josh shared that concerns have been raised about the wind tower bases along Oak Street. 

 

A motion was made by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Josh Sumption, to pay the bills as read.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.  

 

A motion was made by Craig Petersen, seconded by Pat Vlaminck, to adjourn the meeting.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
