Regular City Council Meeting Minutes
City of Porter
August 5, 2024, 6:30 p.m.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Donald Verschelde.
Council members present were Kim Jelen, Donald Verschelde, Josh Sumption, Pat Vlaminck, Craig Peterson, and Judy Verschelde.
Also present was Jordan Odegard, Bollig; Ken Hennen; Ryan Westphal; Lori Fales; Loren Fales
Mayor Donald Verschelde called for the reading of the minutes of the July 1, 2024, Regular City Council meeting. Minutes were approved as read in a motion by Josh Sumption, seconded by Craig Petersen. All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
Discussed the tree line and if there would be any benefit of “thinning” the trees.

Jordan Odegard provided a project update to the council, and everything has been submitted to MDH/UMN (UMN will have an interactive map online – https://maps.umn.edu/LSL/); Flash drive provided to the city with all the information on it and a spreadsheet that the city is able to update/maintain and reviewed the 10 year term to replace pipe and eliminate the unknowns.
Dump has been burned; the city will continue to spray for mosquitos until August.
A motion was made by Josh Sumption, seconded by Pat Vlaminck to approve the issuance of a liquor license to the Cut Loose Tavern for Porter Harvest Festival on August 16th through August 18, 2024. All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
A motion was made by Josh Sumption, seconded by Pat Vlaminck to approve the road closures of city streets for the Porter Harvest Festival (August 16th through August 18, 2024). All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
512,000 gallons of water used (estimated).
City Clean-Up days will be in September.
A motion was made by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Craig Peterson, to pay the bills as read. All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
