Regular City Council Meeting Minutes 

City of Porter 

May 3, 2021 6:30 p.m. 

 

Meeting called to order by Mayor, Donald Verschelde  

 

Council members present were Kim Jelen, Donald Verschelde, Josh Sumption, Craig Peterson, Pat Vlaminck, and Judy Verschelde.   

 

Mayor Donald Verschelde called for the reading of the minutes of the April 13, 2021, Regular City Council meeting and the Board of Equalization meeting.  Minutes were approved as read in a motion by Josh Sumption, seconded by Craig Peterson. All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried. 

 

The 4H Club donated wood chips for the park. 

The dump will be pushed up and burned. 

 

A motion was made by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Josh Sumption to approve the easement for Otter Tail Power to extend a new overhead line to provide power to Ethan Kack’s building.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.   

 

A motion was made by Craig Peterson, seconded by Pat Vlaminck to approve two building permits to Brady & Kayla Watson.  One permit is to move the existing 17’ x 23’ garage and the second is to construct a new 30’ x 30’ garage.  All were in favor with none opposed and the motion was carried. 

 

Discussed various roads needing gravel.   

 

Discussed the inquiry that the city received on repairing sidewalks and the homeowners can do this themselves or the city will review this request and how it would be assessed to the homeowner(s).   

 

407,000 gallons used 

 

Pat Vlaminck made a motion to pay the bills as read.  Craig Peterson seconded the motion.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.  

A motion was made by Josh Sumption, seconded by Pat Vlaminck, to adjourn the meeting.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
