Regular City Council Meeting Minutes 

City of Porter 

February 6, 2023 6:30 p.m. 

 

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Donald Verschelde. 

 

Council members present were Kim Jelen, Donald Verschelde, Josh Sumption, Craig Petersen, Pat Vlaminck, and Judy Verschelde.   

 

Also present was Ken Hennen. 

 

Mayor Donald Verschelde called for the reading of the minutes of the January 3, 2023, Regular City Council meeting and the January 17, 2023, Special City Council Meeting.  Minutes were approved as read in a motion by Josh Sumption, seconded by Pat Vlaminck. All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried. 

 

A motion was made by Craig Petersen, seconded by Josh Sumption, to donate $50.00 to the Porter Easter Egg Hunt $50.00.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried. 

 

Reviewed potential duties for the new Water/Sewer responsibilities. 

 

Josh Sumption reviewed the progress on potential donations for the new concession stand at the park. 

 

A motion was made by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Craig Petersen, to approve a building permit for the Canby Farmers Grain to construct on new 750,000 grain bin.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.  

 

A motion was made by Josh Sumption, seconded by Craig Petersen to make the identified repairs needed to units #1411 & #1412.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried. 

 

375,000 gallons of water were used.   

 

A motion was made by Josh Sumption, seconded by Pat Vlaminck to authorize Bollig Inc to begin collecting data for the required Federal Lead Service Line Inventory ant to apply for a MDH Grant to pay the Lead Service Line Inventory Report.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried. 

 

A motion was made by Pat Vlaminck, seconded Craig Petersen, to pay the bills as read.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.  

 

A motion was made by Josh Sumption, seconded by Craig Petersen, to adjourn the meeting.  All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
