It started out brisk, but it didn't keep the crowd away.
Want a bike? There were close to 100 bicycles on the 1999 auction!
For a town of 210 people we really have some traffic problems. Sure parking is free, if you can find a spot.
Of course part of the problem is the machinery was sitting where people normally park.
A new area was found this year for a muddy, yet sufficient machinery row, but machinery was still covering 3 blocks of land.

Just a look at more sights from the household auction.
And a look at more sights from the machinery auction.
And then the whistle blew and for the first time in many years everyone went home shivering from the weather, yet hoping for the best next year.
As far as we know now auction numbers dispensed were about 1,000 so it is possible that 2,000 people braved the cold and rain to attend our annual auction. Better luck to us on a record breaker next year.
Thank you to all of those that made the 1999 Market Day a success, even if the weather messed it up.
