Regular City Council Meeting Minutes
City of
Porter
Monday, August 2, 2010, 6:30 p.m.
Mayor Donald Verschelde called the regular city council
meeting to order.
Council members present were Eric Dybsetter, Kim Jelen,
Darlene Moeller, and Donald Verschelde.
Also present were Larry Stoks, Mary Wente, David Vogt,
Bonnie Olsen, and Sherri Full.
Mayor Donald Verschelde called for the reading of the
minutes of the July 5, 2010 City Council meeting.
Minutes were approved as read in a motion by Pat Vlaminck, seconded
by Darlene Moeller. All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was
carried.
Bonnie Olsen and Sherri Full addressed the council to
request a dance permit and a liquor license for a group anniversary party to
be held at the Porter Community Hall on Friday, September 10th.
The dance will be from 6:00 pm to 12:00 pm.
Kim Jelen made a motion, seconded by Darlene Moeller, to
approve a dance permit and to approve a temporary liquor license for the
Canby Jaycees to sell liquor at the event in accordance with all applicable
Minnesota statutes. The city
will charge $25.00 for the liquor license, in addition to any fees charged
by the State of Minnesota. All
were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
Mary Wente addressed the council to request a lower
on-sale liquor license fee. She
also inquired about a ballot measure to allow the Sunday sale of on-sale
liquor.
Pat Vlaminck made a motion to set the on sale liquor
license fee from October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2011 at $1200.00, subject
to continued pull tab sales. Kim
Jelen seconded the motion. All
were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
A ballot question will be included in the November
general election on the issue of Sunday Liquor sales within the City of
Porter.
Darlene Moeller made a motion to approve a
non-intoxicating liquor license for the Porter Harvest Festival, September
20-22. Kim Jelen seconded the
motion. All were in favor with
none opposed, and the motion was carried.
A loan between the City and Spud’s One Stop was
discussed. As the loan is in
default, the City will consider small claims court for redress.
The small communities grant was discussed.
Pat Vlaminck made a motion to accept a DNR fire fighting
equipment grant for about $1660.00.
Kim Jelen seconded the motion.
All were in favor with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
Larry Stoks discussed water and sewer issues.
Vic’s Plumbing and Heating will do a pipe repair on the lift station.
Some excavation will be required.
The regular meeting of the Porter City Council for the
month of September will be held on Tuesday, September 7th, 2010
at 6:30 pm due to the Labor Day holiday.
Pat Vlaminck made a motion to pay the bills as read by
Kim Jelen. Kim Jelen seconded
the motion. All were in favor
with none opposed, and the motion was carried.
A motion was made by Darlene Moeller, seconded by Kim
Jelen, to adjourn the meeting.
