Regular Council Meeting

Monday, August 7, 2006

6:30 p.m.

Mayor Donald Verschelde called the regular city council meeting to order.

Those present were Bonnie Olson, Kim Jelen, Donald Verschelde, Pat Vlaminck, Judy Verschelde and Darlene Moeller. Also present were Larry Stoks, Josh Sumption, Norma Johnson, Terri Knutson and Waldo Petersen.

Mayor Donald Verschelde called for the reading of the minutes of the July 5, 2006 City Council meeting. Minutes were approved as read in a motion by Kim Jelen, seconded by Pat Vlaminck. All in favor, no one opposed.

Josh Sumption, Norma Johnson and Terri Knutson were present to update the council on the plans for the Harvest Festival/125^th Celebration.

A motion was made by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Kim Jelen, to donate $500 to the Harvest Festival Committee to help cover expenses. All in favor, no one opposed.

A motion was made by Kim Jelen, seconded by Darlene Moeller approving a $100 donation to the Wergeland Willing Workers 4-H club for painting the concession stand at the city park. All in favor, no one opposed.

A motion was made by Darlene Moeller, seconded by Pat Vlaminck to appoint Louaine Knutson as head judge and Mavis Anderson as an election judge. All in favor, no one opposed.

A motion was made by Kim Jelen, seconded by Pat Vlaminck to approve Jerome Bruns and Ralph Jelen as election judges from Wergeland Township. All in favor, no one opposed.

A motion was made by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Kim Jelen, to appoint Joe Rolling as the City of Porter assessor. All in favor, no one opposed.

A motion was made by Kim Jelen, seconded by Darlene Moeller to approve a conditional use permit to Josh Sumption for the tower. All in favor, no one opposed.

A motion was made by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Darlene Moeller to approve a building for Roger Skorcewski. All in favor, no one opposed.

Larry Stoks gave the water and sewer report. There were 788,000 gallons used. Samples for influent were taken. The ponds have been sprayed and will be mowed before the Harvest Festival.

A motion was made by Kim Jelen, seconded by Darlene Moeller to pay the bills as read. All in favor, no one opposed.

A motion was made by Pat Vlaminck, seconded by Kim Jelen to adjourn the meeting. All in favor, no one opposed.
