February 6, 2006 City Council meeting. Minutes were approved as read in a
motion by Kim Jelen, seconded by Pat Vlaminck. All in favor, no one opposed.
A discussion was held on a memo from Countryside Public Health. Any group
within the city of Porter that is serving food or beverages, must obtain a
health permit PRIOR to the event. If the city is allowing the event
to occur, and allows non-permitted persons or groups to serve food or
beverages, the city is considered liable if a food-borne illness outbreak
occurs. By allowing only permitted persons or groups to prepare and serve
food at these celebrations it transfers the responsibility from the city to
the vendor. Permit applications can be obtained from Don Verschelde.
Larry Stoks gave the water report. A bacteria sample was taken. He has also
completed a survey from the Pollution Control.
Dan Dybsetter presented the council information in regards to the retirement
fund for the Porter Fire Dept. members.
Waldo Petersen requested that the property at 308 N. Brook be re-zoned from
residential to general business district.
A meeting of the Planning Commission will be held on Wednesday, March 8th
at 7:00 pm to discuss the request made by Waldo Petersen.
The Board of Appeal and Equalization meeting will be April 6, 2006 at 7:00
pm at the Porter Fire Hall.
